Shane fell in love with the outdoors and hunting from an early age. Growing up hunting alongside his father and brothers, the mountains quickly became more than a hobby, they became a way of life. While other families went on vacation, Shane, his brothers, and his father instead hiked deep into the Uinta Mountains in search of the ‘big one’. Those early hunts built the foundation for what would eventually become SD Outfitters.

Shane chose to make the outdoors his office and dedicate his life to guiding big game hunts. Over the years, that decision has paid off. SD Outfitters holds records for #1 Muzzle Loader Elk, #1 Archery Elk, #2 Crossbow Elk, and #3 Rifle Elk in the SCI scoring system as well as several Boone and Crockett deer.

SD Outfitters has grown into one of the region’s most trusted trophy elk hunting outfitters, offering guided elk hunts in Utah, private land elk hunts, and mule deer hunting in Colorado. Our hunts take place across carefully managed private ranches and mountain landscapes where wildlife thrives and hunters have a genuine opportunity at record-book animals.

This passion for the big game while also conserving the beauty that the Wasatch Front has to offer continues with Shane, his son John, and his daughter Kennedy.

Today, they work side by side to keep this way of life alive. With record book trophy hunts, their mission is to offer outdoorsmen memories of a lifetime hunt at a respectable price and with a guaranteed opportunity.
